V and A Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa
The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront has now turned into a very modern shopping, entertainment and leisure destination and which also contains its own luxury marina.
The Waterfront also offers wonderful views of the harbour from the Pierhead, Quays and Alfred Basin and the added attraction of seals which are often sited within the Alfred Basin, Waterfront Marina and at the Gateway to Robben Island.
Boat Tours
Small and large vessels are available and can be booked through the information centres which are positioned on the Waterfront near to Quay 4 and the Gateway to Robben Island.
- Sea Charters
On offer are sea charters for deep sea fishing, tours of the harbour and trips around to Simons Town yacht basin where you will be sure to see penguin's, seals, bird life.
- Whale Watching
Special whale watching trips can also be booked and the best time to visit is between June and October when you are likely to see humpbacks and Bryde's whales which are mostly spotted offshore from boats with the Southern Right whale often seen from land as well.
Helicopter Trips
There are many charter companies who offer trips by air in and around Cape Town such as around the harbour, to the Winelands and to the airport as well.
The V and A Waterfront Information Centre
It is here that you can find out the latest information on boat trips, taxi's and general advice. The main Information Centre is in Market Square, near the Central Station and there are many information kiosks situated within the Waterfront complex such as at the Market Square, Clock Tower and Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre.
Travel There
The bus stops are sited near to the Clock Tower and Pierhead and there are many Taxi Ranks located at the Central Station off Dock Road. If you travelling by car there are many car parking areas situated within the Waterfront.
