Imilchil Marriage Festival
The Imilchil Marriage Festival is a traditional festival also known as moussem that allows the local inhabitants of neighboring tribes to meet and if they wish agree to get married at the festival.
The event was founded after the tragic deaths of Tislit and Isli who where two lovers from separate tribes who died because they were forbidden to marry, after their deaths it was agreed to use the festival as an opportunity for neighboring villagers to meet, socialize and agree to marry, thus providing opportunities that would have been previously forbidden.
Due to the remote location of Imilchil couples can meet and marry at the festival instead of having to travel long distances into a city.
The festival is a great social event and features traditional singing, storytelling and dancing with plenty of traditional food and local products available as well.
